Virginia Tech suffered its first ACC loss of the season on Sunday, falling to Duke 70–54 in its conference opener. The game remained competitive early before Duke pulled away in the second quarter.
Despite an ugly first half and some struggles to hold onto the ball, they got it. Duke came into Blacksburg and left with a victory, riding a 19-point performance from forward Toby Fournier to a 70-54 win over Virginia Tech to kick off its ACC slate.
It was a tough loss in Cassell Coliseum for the Lady Hokies who get beat up inside by the Lady Blue Devils with the lid on the basket to go with it.
Down 17 in the second half, No. 19 Texas Tech stormed back and earned an 82-81 win over No. 3 Duke on Saturday at a sold-out Madison Square Garden.
